Commercial construction project for The Arboretum Christmas Village
78 Fence was proud to contribute to the renovation of a unique and beloved local attraction, The Arboretum Christmas Village. This charming seasonal village, known for its festive displays and inviting atmosphere, required some significant updates to ensure the safety and functionality of its structures. One of the key issues identified was the condition of the decks on the boulevard, which had been improperly installed and had suffered extensive rot over time due to exposure to the elements. As a result, the entire decking system needed to be carefully removed and replaced to restore the village’s infrastructure to a safe and durable standard.
The scope of work for this project involved the meticulous deconstruction of the old decking, followed by the manufacturing and installation of new ramps. These ramps, which serve as walkways throughout the village, were constructed using high-quality wood supported by a durable metal frame to ensure longevity and resistance to future wear. Each ramp was slightly elevated off the ground, mirroring the design of the buildings in the Christmas village, and helping to maintain the quaint, elevated aesthetic that visitors have come to appreciate.
A critical aspect of the design was accessibility. The ramps were specifically engineered to be wheelchair accessible, ensuring that all visitors, including those with mobility challenges, could fully enjoy the festive experience. In addition to the ramps, sturdy hand railings were installed along the walkways to provide additional safety and support, particularly during the winter months when icy conditions could present hazards. The hand railings not only add to the practicality of the design but also blend seamlessly into the village’s overall aesthetic, maintaining its charming, traditional feel.
What sets this project apart was the thoughtful approach to making the ramps user-friendly and versatile. The ramps were designed with modularity in mind, allowing them to be easily taken apart, reassembled, and repositioned as needed. This flexible design makes it possible for the village to make adjustments or updates in the future without requiring significant reconstruction, providing a practical, long-term solution for the event organizers.
By the end of the project, 78 Fence had successfully completed the deck replacement, ensuring the Christmas village would not only be safer and more accessible but also preserve the delightful and inviting atmosphere that draws in families and visitors each holiday season. The attention to detail and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship reflect the company’s dedication to providing lasting solutions for unique and special projects like The Arboretum.
